Racing

July 31, 2011

Seems like my racing schedule has slowed down. I missed doing the Stoney TT race last weekend (or weekend before). Always enjoyed that trail. I’ve barely made it on the east side to ride any of the trails and it doesn’t look like I’ll be hitting Addison or Maybury this year either.

A Better Brick

Most triathlons are won on the run.  Which explains why I haven’t won a triathlon.  So far this season, I’ve set personal best times in all four triathlons.  Cant say the same for my mountain bike racing, but that’s another issue.  The main area of improvement for me was the transition from cycling to run.  There is nothing more strange and painful than riding a bike for 25 or 56 miles and then getting...

No Race Weekend

July 11, 2011

Strange not to have a race this weekend.  It’s my second year missing the Boyne Marathon, which is a race I love, but it’s just too costly to go up there.  Between lodging and gas, it’s a $500 weekend.  Plus everybody I know that use to do it, don’t go up there any more either.  Then I was going to do the Grand Haven Triathlon, but passed on that so I could golfing with...

Fort Custer Time Trial Race Report

June 17, 2011

6th place with a time of 1:11:41, which is almost exactly what I did last year. I raced sport since I didn’t renew my license this year. All Tailwind events I’ll race sport. I was averaging 14.2 mph going into the last four miles. My legs were screaming and my HR was high, but I had it in me to maintain that pace for the last four miles. Then it appeared all my mtb...

Guess Who’s Back

March 11, 2011

Back from Vegas. Did a TON of walking and jogging in Vegas, but still feel refreshed. Much colder in Michigan, but all good. Was going to go our running this morning to help with the jet lag, but my right leg is preventing that right now. I did something spontaneous on Wednesday night. Walking past Vince Neil Ink, I stopped in to check it out and walked out with another tattoo above my right...

How Far Do I Need To Run

To burn off a Coconut Creme Cheesecake from the Factory?  Granted I walked 5 miles today on the strip, at least.

The hotel has a really nice gym.  Small but the choice of Cybex equipment makes working out very efficient.   Ran 3 miles, then did recumbent bike for 15 minutes and lifted some weights.  Later today a full body massage.

Nice Workout Time

March 3, 2011

I have 2.5 hours between classes, however normally I’m busy grading, etc.  I finally got ahead of the curve and was able to spend 2 hours at the gym today.  What a great efficient use of time.  Hopefully I can stay ahead of the curve.

Motivation Lacking

February 28, 2011

I REALLY need to find the motivation to get on the trainer.  It’s hard.  I’ve been doing more spin class just to avoid using the trainer, however spin class is not a direct substitute for being on the trainer and doing structured workouts. I have my first race coming up in a few weeks so I need to find the mental strength to do what needs to be done.
